How is copper scrap value calculated?

Scrap value = Weight (kg) × Purity % × Copper price per kg. Market price is set by the LME (London Metal Exchange) in USD per metric tonne. For example, 5 kg of 95% grade copper at ₹700/kg: 5 × 0.95 × 700 = ₹3,325.

What are the different grades of copper scrap?

Grade 1 (Bare Bright): 99%+ pure uncoated copper wire — highest value. Grade 2: clean copper pipe, fittings, no solder — ~95% value. Insulated wire: lower due to plastic coating. Brass: copper-zinc mix, ~60–70% copper content.
